No kids

on

When there are no kids, the dog gets walked.

When there are no kids every drawer gets organized.

When there are no kids, there are no conversations with the neighbor girl about sitting.

When there are no kids, old chores, piles and details scurry from industrious mothers.

When there are no kids mom and dad eat steak in peace with no chortles, whispers, quarrels or stories.

When there are no kids, there are no coils of laughter rolling around on the floor, no zerberts, no snuggles, no bike rides to ice cream cones and parks…

When there are no kids, the floors are clean, the food prep has no shrinkage due to small hands and mouths and all mom’s library booty gets perused leisurely.

Where are no kids, no pictures are taken, no trips to the park happen, the bunny must be fed and there are no cartoons.

When there are no kids, mom and dad consider having more kids.

When there are no kids, bouquets are made, countless half-destroyed plastic toys disappear forever, books are read, even some poetry…
