I am not sure where I have been that I have only just heard of the hedgehog’s dilemma.
The hedgehog longs for physical closeness, not just for companionship, but for practical reasons of warmth in winter. That closeness though means that they get all prickled and hurt because hedgehogs are covered with quills.
They yearn for the physical intimacy, but it hurts them so badly it becomes difficult to tolerate.
Anyone who has been on the earth a little while will see this is as analogous to pretty much any human relationship as well.
