It’s a good time for silliness, A is with grandma till Sunday J and I are on a break of sorts…doing our own things.
1) What was I doing 10 years ago? Ten years ago, 1998. May 1. I live in Saratov Russia and was about a month and a half shy of coming home after 2 years there. It was spring so I was probably out and about walking off all the Russian tea parties I sat through over the winter.
2) What are 5 things on my to-do list for today (not in any particular order): Today is over, my only things left are to do whatever I want, and maybe iron a dress for tomorrow…
Tomorrow, Friday…
Get up at 5:30 AM (this is easily consistently the hardest and most unpleasant part of my day)
Teach students for 6 hours straight with only a 20 minute lunch break from 7:55 AM til 1:45.
Sneak out as early as possible
Prepare dinner, probably cassoulet tomorrow.
Do as little as possible … it’s Friday!
3) Snacks I enjoy: Lately have been enamored of Oh’s! cereal, because I believe it is the most heavily sugared cereal available. Fruit: melon, pineapple, apples, oranges, bananas. Remember, I am pregnant. Hummus. Milk chocolate with almonds (dessert). J says we like to snack on grubs and pork rinds.
4) Things I would do if I were a billionaire:
Large college trust fund for the young ones in my family (including neices, nephews)
Sink the rest into an account and move overseas and teach and help poor people.
Get a pedicure, regularly.
Pay off the house of my brother.
Buy nice clothes, but I am a sucker for nice clothes.
Buy a car that doesn’t need gasoline.
Live off the grid.
5) Three of my bad habits:
1. outspoken strong opinions
2. random disclosure
3. default worrying when it comes to child/spouse
6) 5 places I have lived:
1. Renton, Washington
2. Portland, Oregon
3. Vladimir and Saratov Russia
4. Quito, Ecuador
5. Puebla, Mexico
7) 5 jobs I have had:
What jobs haven’t I had?
1. barista, Starbucks
2. computer lab, Oregon State University
3. page, King County Library
4. Spanish teacher
5. Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
8) 6 peeps I wanna know more about:
1. aprilmay, whose blog I really enjoy
2. Jane in Kyrgyzstan, whose pictures I really enjoy and whose stories I love even more, though I have a sneaking suspicion she won’t go for this…
3. Mrs. Whatsit whose potlucks rock, I only wish I could actually eat the food and meet the people.
4. Umm, sorry, that’s all I can think of. I would say John Spencer because he is interesting, but he is a guy.
Girl, you want me to do a meme, LOL! OK…I never do them, but I will do it for you because I was in your shoes last year…pregnant, teaching, exhausted and going to strangle the next person who asked me if I was returning next year! I stayed home… I miss the students…I don’t miss the politics…I drive my old car.. I made the right choice!
Although? Now they ask me if I am coming back NEXT year. ARRGGHH!
Meme coming soon. 🙂
Hey AprilMay thankyou for sharing, it is nice, i mean really nice to hear of other folks who been on the same little path.
